Scrapped Honkai: Star Rail Character Dracula Explained

A Honkai: Star Rail leak about a character named Dracula has gotten players talking, but unfortunately, they seem to be scrapped.

Honkai: Star Rail has only been out for over a month, but there are already several leaks about possible future characters. The turn-based RPG currently has 22 playable characters, with three new characters expected to arrive in Version 1.1 this June. While Star Rail players are waiting for the update rollout, leakers seem to have been busy mining information about the game.

Most Honkai: Star Rail leaks show either unconfirmed names or unnamed characters. One name that started floating around social media was Dracula, who was said to be a five-star Physical-element character following the Path of Destruction. The initial leak didn't show what they looked like, so no one knows their gender, but it was enough to excite players. Unfortunately, Dracula doesn't seem to be coming to Star Rail anytime soon.

Who Was Dracula Supposed to Be in Honkai: Star Rail?

The Dracula leaks were pretty short-lived. Shortly after Honkai: Star Rail leak accounts were reported on them, they took down their tweets. Some leakers shared that Dracula might either be a scrapped character or still in early development as the data available was created two years ago and hadn't been updated since.

Based on the now-limited information about Dracula in Honkai: Star Rail, they reportedly had a skill that would consume a percentage of allies' HP — just like a vampire would — to deal physical damage to a single enemy. This would've suited their Destruction trait since Arlan has a similar skill where he uses his HP to deal additional damage. Not much was revealed beyond Dracula's skill set.

Potentially scrapped HoYoverse characters aren't new. There had been leaked Genshin Impact characters that never saw the light of day, or took years before they launched. But despite the disappointing news about Dracula, some Honkai: Star Rail players were still wishing that HoYoverse would one day release them in the game. In fact, there might still be hope.

Dracula in the HoYoverse Multiverse

Interestingly, Dracula is an actual character in Honkai Impact 3rd. She's a woman named Vlad III Dracula, who has long black hair and red eyes. Although she isn't a playable character and is only present as a Stigmata, an item that buffs character stats just like a Light Cone, Dracula has a detailed backstory: Once a fierce Valkyrie, people nicknamed Dracula as the "Daughter of the Dragon" in honor of her courage as a warrior. It was unknown how she transformed into a vampire. What was clear was that she would lose consciousness and wake up covered in blood, but would not have any memory of killing people.

HoYoverse confirmed in the past that Honkai: Star Rail and Honkai Impact 3rd exist in the same universe. It's said that they are all connected via the Imaginary Tree, which is the origin of life, and where universes and bubble worlds are born. This was further proven by alternate versions of characters who appear in both games, such as Bronya, Seele, and Himeko.

If it's true that Dracula's development is still in the early stages, it is still possible that HoYoverse could add a version of the Honkai Impact 3rd character to Honkai: Star Rail, and make her a playable character. Just like with Silver Wolf, who was originally Bronie in Honkai Impact 3rd, HoYoverse could have the liberty to tweak Dracula's image a bit and could even change her name to suit whatever backstory she'll be given. Of course, the developer could also retain her original design and story, but make her a boss fight in Star Rail.

Nothing's set in stone yet for Dracula, so players should take any rumor about them with a grain of salt for now. It will still be very exciting for many to see how HoYoverse will introduce versions of Honkai Impact 3rd and Genshin Impact characters in Honkai: Star Rail in the future.

Honkai: Star Rail is available now for PC and mobile devices. PS4 and PS5 versions are in development.
